Position Overview

SSGC is hiring a Deputy Manager – Gas Purchases for its Finance function in Karachi. This is a supervisory role within the gas purchase section, focused on managing the monthly invoice cycle, verifying financial accuracy across purchase schedules, handling debit and credit notes, and coordinating with Exploration and Production companies to resolve invoice matters. The position also contributes to management reporting and correspondence with OGRA and the Ministry.

Eligibility Criteria

• ACCA or MBA, preferably with a specialisation in Finance
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
• Strong command of Oracle ERP, particularly the AP module and ADI uploads
• Advanced Excel skills for MIS reporting and reconciliation work
• Familiarity with Gas Sales Agreements, OGRA price notifications and applicable taxation laws

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the invoice filing process and ensure invoices are presented for verification and payment within required timelines.
• Compile gas purchase invoice data and cross-verify working schedules for financial accuracy and compliance with Gas Sales Agreements, OGRA price notifications and taxation laws.
• Review and comment on new gas purchase agreements, amendments and renewals, and support the implementation of agreement clauses in invoicing.
• Compile monthly data in ERP format for batch upload into Oracle through the ADI–AP module, ensuring correct accounting period, supplier code and tax jurisdiction.
• Maintain detailed Excel MIS reports covering circular debt reporting, foreign payments and remittances, cost of gas, and creditor reconciliations.
• Prepare debit and credit notes with supporting workings, ensuring compliance with agreement provisions and regulatory requirements.
• Upload M-Forms for foreign exchange payments on the commercial bank portal for onward submission to the State Bank of Pakistan, handling over 50 forms monthly.
• Coordinate with the Treasury Department on bank allocations, payment vouchers and FX remittance reconciliations.
• Liaise with Exploration and Production suppliers to reconcile invoices, update payment status, and follow up on pending verifications and applicable discounts.
• Prepare creditor reports and cost of gas reconciliations against the General Ledger, including exchange gain or loss on foreign transactions.
• Pass quarterly journal vouchers for outstanding foreign payables at closing rates and record revaluation gain or loss in the General Ledger.
• Assist in drafting memos and responses for the Managing Director, Ministry and OGRA on pricing, agreement and invoice-related matters.
• Comply with SSGC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Business Principles and Ethics Policy.
