Position Overview

SSGC is hiring a Deputy Manager – Insurance for its Finance function in Karachi. The role supports senior management in securing adequate insurance coverage for the company’s fixed assets, imported cargo, vehicle fleet and employees at the most economical cost. It combines risk assessment, policy administration, claims follow-up and coordination with insurance providers, procurement and human resources.

Eligibility Criteria

• ACCA or MBA, preferably with a specialisation in Finance
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
• Working knowledge of corporate insurance lines including fire, marine, motor, life and all-risk cover
• Familiarity with Public Procurement Rules (PPR) and tender evaluation processes
• Experience with Oracle ERP and general ledger maintenance is preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in assessing the company’s insurance requirements by evaluating exposure to loss and estimating probable loss amounts.
• Review proposals received from insurance companies and prepare draft recommendations for suitable coverage.
• Support management in recommending insurance cover for company assets and employees, and obtain approval from the relevant authority.
• Obtain periodic updates from asset custodians on the physical condition, additions and deletions of insured assets, and notify insurers of any material change in value or location.
• Recommend appropriate insurance cover for imported cargo and coordinate with the Procurement Department to secure coverage for consignments.
• Review tender evaluation reports prepared by Procurement and recommend awards in line with Public Procurement Rules and SSGC’s standard operating procedures.
• Participate in the pre-qualification process for vendors and service providers.
• Liaise with excise and shipping authorities for filing claims relating to losses on imported consignments.
• Maintain updated records of owned and leased vehicles with insurers, and coordinate with Human Resources on employee coverage for life, health and accident policies.
• Maintain a complete record of insurance policies, insured assets, risks covered and policy maturity dates.
• Coordinate across departments to report losses, arrange prompt surveys, file claims, and follow up until settlement and collection.
• Ensure premium payments are made on time after approval and correctly recorded in Oracle in line with accounting standards, and maintain general ledger accounts for all insurance categories.
• Process claim payments to families or nominees of deceased employees in accordance with approvals or court orders.
• Comply with SSGC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Business Principles and Ethics Policy.
