Most people in Pakistan still make their CV in MS Word. They download a template, fight with the margins for an hour, and end up with something that looks like everyone else’s. Then the file opens differently on the employer’s computer and the whole layout falls apart.
There is an easier way. You can build a CV in your browser, see it as you type, and download it as a PDF. No software, no signup fee, no watermark across the page.
This guide walks you through it step by step, using the free CV maker on HireMe.pk. It takes about ten minutes.
Why PDF is the format you should send
Send a Word file and you are trusting the other side to have the same fonts as you. Often they don’t. Your neat one page CV turns into two pages, the heading jumps to the next line, and the spacing looks careless.
A PDF looks the same everywhere. On a laptop, on a phone, and when the HR person prints it for the interview panel. Some job portals also reject .doc files. If you can only keep one version of your CV, keep the PDF.
Name the file properly too. Ayesha-Khan-CV.pdf is fine. cv final final 2.pdf is not.
Step 1: Your name, title and city

The top of your CV is the part that gets read. Everything else gets skimmed.
Three small things make a difference here:
- Job title: write the role you are applying for, not the one you currently have. If you work as a data entry operator and you want an accounts job, write “Accounts Assistant”.
- City: always add it. Most Pakistani employers filter by city before they read anything else.
- Phone: use the number that has WhatsApp on it. That is how most companies here actually reach candidates.
The photo is optional. For private sector jobs you can skip it. For government and semi government roles, a plain passport style photo is normal. If you add one, use the slider to line up your face properly.
About you is three or four lines about what you do. Write it the way you would say it to someone, then cut anything that sounds like a slogan. “Hard working individual with excellent communication skills” tells an employer nothing. “Accounts assistant with two years of experience in receivables and monthly closing, working with Excel and QuickBooks” tells them a lot.
Step 2: Skills that people actually search for

Type a skill, press Add, and it appears as a tag.
Aim for six to ten. Keep them concrete: MS Excel, Tally ERP, Customer Support, AutoCAD, Urdu and English typing, Photoshop. These are the words a recruiter types into a search box, so a vague skill costs you a chance.
Leave out “hard working”, “team player” and “quick learner”. Everyone writes them and nobody believes them.
Step 3: Education
For a fresh graduate, education sits high on the CV and that is fine. Put the most recent qualification first: your degree, then Intermediate, then Matric.
Write the full name of the institution. “University of the Punjab” reads better than “PU”. If your degree is still in progress, write the year as “2023 – Present” and say so honestly. Nobody minds a student. People do mind a surprise in the interview.
You do not need to list every certificate you have ever collected. Two or three that matter to the job are enough.
Step 4: Experience, written the right way

This is where most CVs in Pakistan fall flat. People write the job description they were given on day one, instead of what they actually did.
Compare these two:
Responsible for handling customer queries and maintaining records.
Handled around 40 customer calls a day and kept the daily sales register in Excel. Trained two new staff members on the billing system.
The second one is the same job. It just tells the employer what you can do for them.
Two lines per role is enough. Start with the work, then add the result if you have one: a number, a time saved, a problem solved.
No experience yet? Put something in this section anyway. An internship, your final year project, freelance work, the shop you helped run for your family. An empty experience section looks worse than a modest one.
Step 5: Pick a template

Three colours, and each one has a job it suits best.
- Navy and gold — private companies, agencies, most office roles.
- Emerald green — calmer and more formal. Good for government, NGO and teaching jobs.
- Black and white — the safest choice if the CV will be printed or photocopied.
Switch between them as often as you like. Your details stay where they are.
Watch it build as you type

The CV on the right updates with every word. Contact details and skills sit in the dark side bar, and your experience and education take the white side, which is the order a recruiter’s eye follows.
Keep it to one page. Unless you have ten years behind you, a second page usually means repetition.
Check your score before you download

The panel scores five sections out of 100 and lists what is still missing.
You do not have to hit 100, but a CV in the 90s has no blank gaps. Gaps are what get a CV put aside, because the person reading it assumes the worst about anything you left out.
When you are happy with it, press Download PDF and save the file. You will be asked to log in or create a free HireMe.pk account first. That takes half a minute, and your CV stays exactly where it is on the page while you do it.
Things to leave off a Pakistani CV
A few habits worth dropping:
- CNIC number. Not needed at the application stage, and it is your identity sitting in a stranger’s inbox. Give it after you are selected.
- Expected salary. Discuss it in the interview, when you have some leverage.
- Father’s name, marital status, religion, date of birth. These are still common on local CVs but they add nothing. Use the space for your work.
- “References available on request.” Everyone knows. It just wastes a line.
- A long objective paragraph. Two lines about what you do is enough.
One more thing worth doing
A PDF only helps when you send it. A profile works while you sleep.
HireMe.pk works the other way round from a normal job board. You build your profile once, and companies search the directory and contact you directly. No applying to fifty ads and hearing nothing back. The same details you just typed will get you most of the way there.

FAQs
Is the HireMe CV maker really free? Yes. You can build the CV and download it as a PDF without paying anything, and there is no watermark on the file.
Do I have to make an account? Only when you download. Building and previewing the CV needs no account. Creating one is free and takes about thirty seconds.
Can I use it on my phone? Yes. The page works on a phone, though a laptop is easier when you have a lot of text to type.
Where is my data stored? Your CV is saved in your own browser, not on a server. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, you will need to fill it in again.
Can I make more than one CV? Yes, but only one is saved at a time. Download the first one as a PDF, then edit the details for the next job and download again.
Which CV format is best for fresh graduates in Pakistan? One page, education near the top, and an experience section filled with internships or projects. The navy or black and white template works well for almost any entry level role.
